Yellow Ribbon Studio Recording!

Today, I went with the choir to a studio to record the yellow ribbon song in support of the concert 2008 and the Yellow Ribbon Project. Was pretty fun, for me and the children!

We met up with Christchurch Sec pupils and had a little warm up before the recording.

I still remember how Mrs Sasarak said" You all must sing 'TIGHHHH-YER ribbon round the old oak tree...'

Oh, and I might still have a few extra tics for this Sat's concert... *winks

Finally, after all the hard work and anticipation, its official that we are a SILVER CHOIR!

Before everything else, I would like to thanks all the choir members, all the TICs and our dear Mrs Sasarak.

I thought we all sang beautifully. Mr Piere was glad, so was I. If you had to ask me, I'd rather prefer to listen to our choir anytime, vs a gold choir. Why? Really because of all the things we went through. I don't know if you find my recess singing sessions crappy or lame, but Mr Gan just want to try to help. Remember all the training, all the Saturday spent, all the fun, laughter and joy. I couldn't help but get awfully emotional when you all sang. Never knew I was that type.

Anyways, thank god we pulled through.

Another thing, I don't know about the MacDonalds treat, but I'll see what I can do. Was planning like a choir get-together with Mrs Sasavak and all the TICs. I'm thinking after exams where we'll get a little party of sorts, like order dozens of pizza and have a feast or something, since you all will be able to EAT LIAO! Don't worry, if the sch doesn't pay, I will! Will have to ask Ms Lim if ok and then firm up the details. But still, nothing's confirmed.

I set up this blog for the pure pleasure of penning down my thoughts, random ideas and rants. It did not occur to me that one day, more people will come check this blog. It's all fine and dandy, life goes on if I were any Tom, Dick or Harry. Reality turns out not. It dawned on me that I am a teacher and any personal comments I made could indeed turn out to be quite harmful to myself and my career. Yes, I intend to keep my job for the time being at least.

So, the thing is this: Anything posted here does not represent the view of MOE. Being a great and responsible teacher at heart, I will review and moderate comments, my tagbox will be SCRUTINISED. To the immature juvenile that spammed me awhile ago, take note.

Wasn't able to see you P6 people. Nvm, let you all miss me a little longer...lol! But nways, hope EL P1 aka compo's a breeze for you all PRPS-P6ers.

First time in my life stepped into Bel's class. Ah bel ah, why did you give me the im-so-sian look? I know not what to comment about this first impression. You DO look like you will be killed or maimed by boredom any minute. But on the bright side, you turn into super mario on Wednesdays for Choir, Marissa et al.

Went to Vivo late after school. Shopped about, decided nothing worth my fancy. Bought a $1 toy(the kind that rolled out in a round plastic shell with a funky toy within), made myself and friend quite amused for 5minutes. Rather late now by the way.

Oh, turned out I discovered a good way of keeping awake while driving. Blow the air con at your face. Thank god for that, Mr Gan lives to come back to you all tmr wednesday!

It's TGIF finally. Cant believe how fast this crap week flew by. Have been seriously missing PRPS. Was in and out of school, either for course or some other stuff. 6F and 5B, haven't seen you all for ages, miss you all ok?

4A and 4B, really hope you all don't blame me for making you rehearse for the 1 minute of fame thingy k.

Let's see what happened this week:

Dont event know how marissa tan got my hp number. Considering whether to block her or not. (Thanks marissa tan, you even gave it to Hannah) Am very angry.

Choir drew a stupid face on the board and claimed thats me. How mistaken, and how sic...

Saw and listened to Hong Hui's head prefect speech. (huh...lidat also can?) Every time I see her, either give me heart attack or make me laugh. Duno what to say.

Very emo cos I think my music lesson is seriously going down south. And I am turning into a singlish pumpkin. Terrible.

And I owe music class the recorder scores, which I'm finally going to do now...

Went off at 3.30pm on the last day of PSLE marking. Very upset.

I know schools that let teachers off at 11am, and have perfectly nice and polite supervisors. My school? Far cry...

We were waiting at the gate for the dismissal bell, this mad HOD dashed out and hollered at the security guard :" close the gate! close the gate! do not let them go out! lower the gates now".

Right. He did that while giving us fierce stares, like we were criminals or something. Oh, and we werent even moving out of the school.

Are we some kind of criminals or something? Macpherson Pri, I remember you. Make my memory short.

Dear Wanie, look at how our dear boy squandered his children's day stickers. Cute right?

First things first,

Thanks wanie! Absolutely loved it when you returned. Btw, how in the world Miss Winette and her good friend Emily knew you were coming? They came to me on the very first period to tell me a big 'secret'. Like some VIP coming....'shhh Mr Gan, secret ok? Please do not tell the class' hehz. Good one wanie. Oh, you got to give me the pictures that you took!

Ok back to the business side of things. The class just completed their 2nd portfolio assignment, right on track. Give the poor Mr Gan a pat, will you? Very pleased. Included some in-progress pics for you, viewers.

The class's task was an animal report, so dear Mr Gan brought them to the library, taught them about fact books and a whole lot of other stuff that unfortunately included the need to return the books on time. Ms Caroline was so worried them kids will sell the books away. So, the first step was research. Yellow group did a good job, evident in the below snap.

And so, the class had to then digest the following facts and construct a mind map. Fantastic work there. Mr Gan obviously expected it from the class after having explained and modeled the way to do Mapping with the class. Was impressed with overall performance, but learnt that Dark green group can make it without Ms Syaza present.

See the mind map? Creative? you bet!

After all that, the class duly rearranged the information on the mind map and completed the animal report.

Who says doing project work in Mr Gan's class is boring?

Ok, next week is SA2. Mr Gan is stressed enough. Now that he have finished the entire syllabus, he's got to revise the entire year's work in 1 week? Oh, and oral is on tuesday. God bless... Omg, got to run catch my Discovery Channel.

Brain dead, yes that's me.

I have decided that today is one of the worst lessons I have ever had. Hey, teacher have bad teach days too.

It all started yesterday. I was already half dead marking the Theme 5 worksheets, not to mention there are piles of stuff on my table for me to clear. I was knocked out halfway into Discovery Channel's documentaries at 2am. Having decided my brain was no longer productive, I turned in to make the most out of the 5 hours of sleep left before swimming CCA.

Reaching school at 8am this morning was unbearable. 99% of my grey matter was in lala land whist the remaining 1% was muttering to itself. The next 3 hours was spent watching over energiser-bunny-kids jumping around at the pool. I can't remember how many times I said: "Walk, don't run, the floor is wet...."

Ok so i returned to school and prepared for P4 music. The front row pupils were half giggling, half-singing 'Dona Nobis Pacem'. Maybe laughing at a zombie singing. I gave up, ask them to return to class.

Assembly was great? THink not... Johnson Tan, the MD for the Anything and Whatever drinks company gave a talk about values to the kids. Though I personally enjoyed the funny commercials, the only thing the kids learnt was how many times he told them to 'study hard' and 'Don't smoke'. On the brightside, free cans of Anything and Whatever for the class.

Come afternoon, was the regular tuesday spelling and mental sums. After that was worksheets discussion time again. Syaza looks bored, Shahirah gave me blank stares. Oh I am so doomed. Wasn't sure what i was doing too. Felt so terrible that I again knocked out for a good 15mins on my table. I pray Mr Pierre did not walk pass me.

Ok. Have to go soon. OR else tomorrow will be ZOMIE part II....

Just back from the P5 camp at Jalan Bahtera. After 3 sleepless nights, boy am I glad to be back! Very proud of Jonathan Ong. He took 15 minutes to climb the tower, but was abseiling down within 5 minutes. There was 1 girl who got stuck up there for 20 minutes I heard. Talk about height- phobia.

Oh, do take a look at our very own PRPS Cookshow, featuring Mr Shahidzan. Course for the night? Egg and sausage fishball noodles!

Mr Gan is like super screwed. Firstly, there's a thousand and one things to catch up on after Sing Singapore 2007. I owe the holy curriculum god big time, and I have no idea how am I going to clear all the worksheets, workbooks, activities and portfolio tasks. It also feels great to know that the kids have to do budgeting, go shopping for groceries and make a pizza for this coming Thursday and Friday. Its a MEGA activity man. GOD HAVE MERCY.

To top it all off, Mr Gan will be joining the P5s for 4 days of wonderful and exciting camp near CCK cemetery. Especially merry at this time of the year! And what's best? I'm in charge of the camp fire repertoire and song books because I am a music teacher.

NANYANG GIRL'S HMP CONCERT

Mr Gan went to catch NYGH's higher music programme concert this afternoon.

Kinda freaky though, watching them play Bartok, Chopin and Dvojak. Enjoyed the romantic era ones, not NOT NOT NOT 20th century pieces please!! God I beg of you! Mr Gan had thought he was free from listening Shoernburg and Stavinsky after 4 years in NIE/NTU. But but... Mr Gan was kind enough to explain to Lilian about Pointilism, Minimalism and impressionism. Lydia saved the day with CHUN DAO YI HE!! haha, finally some chinese music.

Anyways, went to buy a cake for kiddo Krystal and picked up Sherlene, Ester and Catherine (did i get it right?) on the way. I waited for so long in the cab outside Far East Florist that I thought they were planting the sunflowers and waiting for them to grow INSTEAD of buying them! Turned out the girls did some nice handiwork on the flower wrapping...hehe.

Okay, thank YIPING for her mean-ness again.(A.S.S! Hope you can READ this:) Chocolate cake should be enough for Krystal to go SOLO on it.

Am on course tomorrow at MOE for classroom management. Im doing research now how to get there. (AYE-CLEMENTI EXIT) Hope tomorrow Mr Gan will not screw up the route and exit wrongly, lose my way, and be late.

Today is P1 registration. It is also the day where I was the form-filler. The school is so hotly registered that before lunch time, my job was to advise parents who did not live across the street from the school to pick another school for their dear little hopefuls.

Guess what? All vacancies filled in little over 2 hrs. There are 3 cat for applicants in order of descending priority:

I think MOE should add 1 more category: Less than 100m from the school.
